WDMBA Round 3, Mountain Ash

Last weekend RG Squadron riders Adam Halling and Elliot Machin took the long trip down to South Wales for round 3 of the Welsh Downhill Mountainbike Accociation's summer series. This series is a fantastically well organised collection of races at the tracks that used to be raced by the Dragon Downhill Series.

The Mountain Ash venue is a long but seriously old-school track. It's a series of bus stops and a very long pedally traverse along the hill after the steeper top section, leading into a reworked lower section that looked a lot of fun to ride. It was certainly a big change from the far more technical Gethin race in May, even though they're on opposite sides of the same mountain!

The weather held, despite rain elsewhere and racing got underway.
Adam's first run was a 3:56, good enough for 4th, but ever critical of himself, he was positive he could find more time. Come finals, Adam laid down a 3:52, bumping him up to 3rd and only 3/10ths from 2nd place! An awesome result.

In Elite Men, Elliot put down a solid run of 3:46 placing him 3rd, and but an uncharacteristic bobble took vital seconds away in finals, leaving him 2 seconds down on his first run time. That left Elliot to take 3rd in Elite Men.
